Information

Listed below are important things to know before arriving at Bark House for dog boarding and daycare. For professional dog grooming information, please contact Chelsey at 660.287.9897.

Meet and Greets with
Behavior Evaluations

MANDATORY FOR NEW DAYCARE CLIENTS

To ensure the safety and well-being of all our furry guests, we require all new daycare dogs to perform a meet and greet at Bark House with an in-depth Fear Free behavior evaluation. Boarding dogs do not have to perform a meet and greet but is still recommended.

Records

RABIES, BORDETELLA, DISTEMPER/PARVO

We require all dogs to have current vaccination records. This includes current proof of rabies, bordetella, and distemper/parvo vaccinations. For puppies, they must be at least 16 weeks old and have had a minimum of 2 rounds of the distemper/parvo vaccination. Records must be reviewed and approved before visiting. We take the health and safety of our furry guests very seriously and ask that you provide up-to-date documentation before boarding your pup.

Records need to be uploaded into your client profile (when you make one) OR they can be sent to barkhouse.sedalia@gmail.com.

Dropping Off and Picking Up

7:30AM-11:00AM OR 2:00PM-5:00PM MONDAY - FRIDAY

8:00AM-10:30AM OR 2:00PM-4:30PM SATURDAY - SUNDAY

Boarding drop off and pick up times for Bark House are 7:30am-11:00am sharp and 2:00pm-5:00pm sharp 5 days a week. We prefer curbside drop-off and pick-up and will meet you outside to prevent disturbing and disrupting the dogs already inside. When dropping off your dog, it's best if good-bye's are short and sweet. Do not feed into your dog's emotions and leave on a positive, happy note. We are more than happy to provide you with updates throughout the stay and will always ensure your pet is taken care of. Visits MUST be scheduled beforehand and cannot be done at drop off. Tuesdays and Thursdays we offer 6:00am SHARP and 6:45am SHARP early drop offs. We close momentarily and reopen during regular business hours.

Walk-wear

WELL-FIT COLLAR OR HARNESS AND LEASH IN GOOD CONDITION

We take the safety of the dogs very seriously. To ensure a safe and secure stay for your pup, we require all dogs to come with a well-fitting collar or harness and leash in good condition. We are not responsible for any slip-outs and escapes due to faulty collars and leashes or loose harnesses. We recommend that you inspect your pet’s collar or harness and leash prior to their stay to ensure the best possible experience. Thank you for your cooperation.

In respect to our certifications, NO PRONG COLLARS, CHAINS, or SHOCK COLLARS.

Food

MORE THAN ENOUGH FOOD FOR THE STAY

We strive to make sure your pup is comfortable and well-fed. We kindly ask that you provide more than enough food for your pup's stay. All food and treats must be stored in airtight containers and labeled with the dog's first and last name as well as feeding instructions. State requirements mention NO BAGGIES. Please do not drop off your dog with its original dog food bag or food separated in baggies unless they are stored in an airtight container. Due to potential allergies and digestive upset, we do not share food and treats with other dogs. In the event that your dog's food runs out, we will purchase more at your expense.

Medication

We understand that some dogs require ongoing medication or supplements to stay healthy. In order to ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs in our care, we require that all medications and supplements be stored in an airtight container and clearly labeled with the dog's first and last name and dosing/administration instructions. We also ask that all medications and supplements be provided in their original containers, where possible. We are trained to administer medication and supplements as instructed, and will always take care to ensure your dog's safety and comfort. If you have any questions about our medication policy, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Dog Introductions

At Bark House, we understand the importance of introducing dogs to each other in a safe and controlled environment. We take the time to get to know each dog and their individual needs before introducing them to other dogs. We also use our best judgment when doing so. Dogs that are not used to others or need a slower introduction are separated for a period of time to adjust and get familiar with the sights, smells, and surroundings of Bark House. They are then introduced to other dogs and closely supervised for behavioral cues letting us know if we can advance. We will monitor their interaction and behavior to ensure the safety of all involved. If we feel that a particular introduction needs more time, we will wait until both dogs are comfortable before allowing them to interact.

Social Media

We understand how important it is for pet owners to stay connected with their pup while they are away. That's why we provide daily updates. Our Facebook page is the main platform for updates and is the best way to keep an eye on your dog's activities. We post detailed posts, pictures and videos throughout the day, so you can see your pup interacting with us and other dogs, and have that extra peace of mind. To many of our customers, these updates are their favorite part of the experience. Find us on Facebook under Bark House Bed & Biscuit.

Free Roam

At Bark House, we encourage a free-roam environment. Dogs are separated when necessary, such as during lunch and overnight. Dogs who don't get along with others are separated for their safety. We have a television that plays animated movies during the day and calming music at night. To keep your pup entertained, we provide an indoor tire obstacle course, two outdoor puppy playgrounds,  and plenty of chances to play fetch! We also provide brain stimulating toys and activities to keep them engaged, enriched, and happy.

Daily Schedule

We provide the highest quality of care in town for your beloved four-legged friends. Our daily schedule is designed to ensure that each pup's stay with us is as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. We begin each day with breakfast and free roam play. Midday, the dogs are kenneled with calming music to give them some time to relax. Afternoon free roam play and enrichment follow, ending with dinner and more playtime. Our goal is to give your pet a safe and enjoyable stay, so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.

Injury Disclaimer

At Bark House, we do our best to keep all pets safe and secure. However, we'd like to remind you that your pet may come home with minor bumps and cuts, bites, or limping. This is a natural part of dog play, and is not indicative of a bad experience. Nonetheless, we take any injury your pet may have very seriously and you will be notified of any type of injury that occurs while they are with us. Thank you for understanding.

Diarrhea/Vomiting/Loss of Appetite/Weight Loss Disclaimer

We understand that the process of boarding or daycare can be stressful for your pet. At Bark House, we strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment to ensure your pup’s health and happiness. While we do our best to provide a stress-free atmosphere, it is important to note that some dogs may experience stress and excitement while staying with us. This can cause diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and weight loss during and after boarding or daycare. However, these symptoms should subside as the dog becomes more comfortable in the kennel setting. If the symptoms persist or worsen, contact your vet immediately to address the issue.

Emergency Plan

In case of a medical emergency, the safety and well-being of your dog is our top priority and we will take all necessary measures to ensure that your dog is given the best care possible. First aide will be administered if necessary. We will immediately contact you or the emergency contact to inform them of the situation and will provide updates as needed. We will contact the veterinarian on file to ensure the best care for your dog and if necessary, transport your dog to the nearest veterinarian. In case of inclement weather, Bark House is situated in a concrete walk-out basement. The dogs are already at their safest point in Bark House and will resume normal day to day activities until necessary to take shelter. In case of fire, Bark House is equipped with a working fire/CO2 alarm and easily accessible fire extinguisher. Our first plan is to move all dogs to the cabin or to the Bark Yard, and our second plan is to tie up the dogs to the neighbors fence line. Whatever we can do to keep your dogs safe is our priority. In case of an escape, we will do everything in our power to retrieve your dog. We will contact the shelter, local veterinarians, and local pet groups, post on Facebook on the lost and found pets page, as well as contact the local trapper. Dogs do escape and slip out from their owners hold at drop off and pick up. Please make sure all collars and harnesses are SNUG to help prevent this from happening.

Exercise Plan

We understand that exercise is essential for a dog's physical and mental wellbeing. That is why we provide indoor and outdoor free roam exercise throughout the day. Free roam takes place between 8am-11am and 2pm-5pm. We understand that rest is just as important as exercise, so disturbing the dogs after they have settled down between 11am-2pm is not ideal. We are committed to ensuring that your furry friend gets the best care possible.

Visits

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate walk-ins and if you show up unannounced, you may be turned away. If you plan on bringing your dog to visit, we must review and approve vaccination records beforehand. We look forward to your visit and thank you for your understanding.
